YWCA Hartford Region
Serving nearly 1,800 people annually in our community, YWCA Hartford Region helps women, youth and families bridge educational, career and financial gaps and helps prepare them for life-long stability and economic security. We pursue our mission to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all through advocacy, programs and services.
YWCA provides an array of services including:
- Early Learning Centers for infants, toddlers and preschoolers in East Hartford, Hartford, South Windsor and West Hartford
- Kidslink before and after school programs in Bolton, Rocky Hill, South Windsor and West Hartford
- Vacation Camps in Hartford and South Windsor for students in grades K-6 during spring and summer breaks
- Young Women’s Leadership Corps (YWLC) empowers teens and fosters teamwork, personal development and leadership.
- YW Career Women (YWCW) offers wellness support, career coaching, mentoring and support for women pursuing their education
- YW Tech Lab provides hands-on experience to strengthen digital skills that may lead to a new career
- Financial Literacy programs, including the Denise L. Nappier Money Conference, an annual conference that helps working families address financial challenges and become more financially secure.
- Soromundi Commons provides safe shelter and housing for people who are experiencing homelessness, and our Emergency Shelter for Women provides temporary housing and case management services to help women find permanent homes
Recent Accomplishments:
Recently, YWCA Hartford Region launched their social enterprise, Persimmon Petals – Flowers that Empower. Developed to diversify income and expand program opportunities, our online flower shop is now in its second year of operation. Our award-winning designers have served nearly 1000 customers and received over 100 five-star reviews.
In April, Financial Literacy Month, we announced the Webster Bank Finance Lab – programming focused on financial literacy for all ages throughout the year.
TANGO has impacted our organization through providing free resources and trainings. Their newsletters provide interesting information on trends in the sector. And we appreciate the opportunity to network and learn from colleagues in the industry.

An important part of YWCA Hartford Region’s mission is our Community Engagement and Advocacy work. We raise awareness and inspire community members to take action on issues at the intersection of racial justice and gender equity. This is accomplished through conversations, events and legislative advocacy.
YWCA Hartford Region is preparing to develop the Center for Racial Justice and Gender Equity within our existing building. This redevelopment will allow us to expand our community-based programming and become a hub for safety, inclusion and well-being for all.
