Brooker Memorial

Brooker Memorial has been serving children and families since its founding in 1918. Our mission has always been “preparing children for lifelong success.” We pride ourselves in building a stronger, more supportive community – one child, one family at a time and treat every family with kindness, offering help and guidance whenever needed.

Our Child Care Center offers day care for up to 75 children annually in a warm, welcoming environment with staff that have a combined 241 years of experience teaching.

Brooker Memorial has operated a Dental Center for over 30 years, and it is comprised of 20 dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, and office staff. Dental staff provide community education on oral health to reduce the largest childhood disease.

Our programs are available to anyone, regardless of a family’s income. We offer scholarships both in Child Care and the Dental Center. We believe that every child deserves a strong foundation for a bright future.

Services provided:

Pediatric Dental Center, offering dental health services to over 5,000 patients annually and the only HUSKY/Medicaid dental provider for children in Litchfield County.
In-school Dental Program, offering services to students in 12 schools, including Torrington public schools, Head Start preschool in Torrington, Region One schools and Botelle Elementary in Norfolk, CT. This program offers screenings, cleanings, and important preventative education for students in kindergarten through 8th grade.
Child Care Center, providing care for children birth to 5 years old and before and after school care through third grade and accepts Care4Kids.
Monthly support group for Relatives as Parents (grandparents raising grandchildren), offering information, resources and fun activities for families.
Aptitude testing for high school students to determine their natural abilities and offering them a career expo to connect with local career professionals.

Recent Accomplishments:

Brooker regularly collaborates with nonprofit organizations in Northwest Connecticut. We recently tallied those collaborations for 2025, and it included 26 nonprofits out of the 53 organizations and businesses listed. Brooker won the Litchfield Area Business Association nonprofit award in 2024.
